Chapter 61 - State Board of Education Rules for Major Capital School Construction Projects

The state of Maine's rules for major capital improvement projects, known as Chapter 61, defines an "Emergency Project" as: Any school construction project requiring the replacement of all or significant portion of a school facility, resulting from an unanticipated and sudden natural or human disaster, and which is declared uninhabitable by authorized local, state or federal government agency or individual (e.g., the State Fire Marshal's Office.)

Under section 2 of the same rules, it is stated that Emergency Projects will be dealt with on a case-by-
case basis as deemed appropriate by the State Board.

With this information, the MSAD33 board determined that it was time to find out more about emergency projects.
